Mermaid Mixed Use reimagines short-stay accommodation as part of the Gold Coast experience.

Rather than delivering a generic interiors package, J.AR OFFICE developed an accommodation product that complements the lifestyle precinct below while establishing its own distinct identity. Drawing on the nostalgia of the Gold Coast, without becoming themed, the design is robust, relaxed and inherently subtropical.

Corridors are conceived as outdoor streets, while the lobby becomes a memorable arrival space connected to landscape, natural ventilation and the wider precinct. Guest rooms are designed to respond to business travellers, families and longer stays, allowing the accommodation to flex across different booking patterns.

The result reinforces the precinct’s stay, play, live philosophy, inviting guests to experience the Gold Coast as locals rather than tourists.
