Coming Soon: Mermaid Mixed Use Precinct

Mermaid mixed use rethinks the Gold Coast podium as a place to stay a little longer.

J.AR OFFICE developed the podium as a lifestyle precinct, one that responds to the Gold Coast’s linear condition and its shortage of shaded, social places beyond the beach. Rather than treating the podium as a commercial base below a tower, the design creates a small village of laneways, gardens, shop fronts, dining edges, hotel arrival points and public-facing rooms.

The practice’s role extended well beyond conventional architectural planning. J.AR OFFICE shaped the precinct identity, ground plane circulation, tenant interfaces, shopfront language, wayfinding, lighting atmosphere and material character.

The design was curated around ‘a day in a life’.
